Fall Retreat, Meaningful

Posted October 24, 2008, 8:10am Members of FUMC-Eunice retreated to the Uskichitto Retreat Center on Saturday and Sunday, October 18 & 19.  It was a time of fellowship, spiritual renewal and growth, and an escape from daily routines in order to spend time with God and each other.

After arriving early Saturday afternoon, the opening session set the stage for a time of reflection and experiencing God’s presence.  Mid-afternoon, Brother Truman led the second session which centered on various forms of prayer and concluded with communion.  Gathered around a blazing campfire, the evening session included everything from hot dogs and smores to prayer and devotional to singing and clapping.

After cooking and enjoying a hot breakfast on Sunday morning, the group’s final session encouraged looking around and ahead – looking around in order to recognize the multitude of blessings God bestows, and how each person can be a blessing to others…and ahead to what God’s will for each person’s life may be.

It was a very meaningful experience, and there is no better setting to get away than our church camp.  Thanks to all who participated!
