- UMCOR / Sager Brown Assistance The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has assisted people around the world when the need is greatest -- from natural disasters to the poor, hungry and sick. FUMC Eunice recently collected supplies for health kits that were delivered to Sager-Brown in Baldwin, LA, then distributed across the globe. To donate supplies or money (each kit costs $12), send an email to fumc@fumceunice.org or contact Brother Truman.
- A group from FUMC Eunice will traveled to Sager-Brown on Wednesday, June 25 to volunteer -- helping with assembly of supply kits and other tasks necessary in UMCOR's ministries.
- ARK Children's Ministry As Noah's ark provided refuge during a time of flood and turmoil, FUMC wants to be the safe place where children can gather to laugh, sing, play, learning more about each other and about Jesus Christ. ARK is held on a designated Saturday in odd-numbered months during the year, 9:00am-Noon -- except July, when we offer a one-week Vacation Bible School. The acronym, ARK, also serves as the theme of the ministry: Acts of Random Kindness.
- EMAIL PRAYER WARRIORS We have a very active email prayer ministry. Members and friends of FUMC forward requests for immediate or general prayer concerns to Dwight Jodon. Requests are then sent out to an extremely long list of Christian "Prayers" across the state, country, and even a few other countries. There is incredible and healing power in prayer. To join the Prayer Warrior email list, simply send an email to Dwight at drjodon@aol.com.
- Eunice Food Bank Assistance On communion Sundays, a special offering is collected at the altar to benefit the local food bank ministry. Your generosity is appreciated. Volunteers are also needed at the food bank for daily operation.
- CURB SERVICE Periodically, FUMC members offer drinks and snacks to children as they walk by our church grounds after school. As programs go, this is probably one of the easiest. However, it's part of our heartfelt desire to reach out with ARKs (Acts of Random Kindness)...letting these children know that we notice them and that they are loved. Check the calendar to see if there are any dates scheduled...and pitch in!
- Vacation Bible School A week-long time of learning, crafts and games. VBS is a time when FUMC opens its doors wide to all children in the community, sharing the love of Jesus Christ and living up to the "OPEN DOORS" part of our motto. 2008 VBS will be Monday-Friday, July 14-18.
- COMING SOON: The Friendship Sunday School Class is praying about implementing the Christmas in April program. This is a ministry that directly impacts older, low income individuals locally. Projects involve everything from painting to roofing to ramp building to sprucing up. Please pray for the class' discussions and research, and that this ministry will blossom into a powerful outreach emphasis for FUMC! To get involved, speak to any member of the Friendship Class.
- Covered Dish Meals Few things are more Methodist than gathering around food. These are special times of fellowship, where the congregation and friends gather sometimes for a program, sometimes just for fellowship! Check the calendar for upcoming covered dish events.
- Million Penny Offering Many years ago, Beverly Guillory began the Million Penny drive...an effort to collect 1,000,000 pennies to benefit world missions. We met that goal, and are now collecting toward our SECOND MILLION! Children collect this offering during the offertory at Sunday morning worship each week. 100% of this offering benefits United Methodist World Missions.
- MOP BUCKETS From time to time, members of FUMC collect cleaning supplies in mop buckets and deliver them to area apartment residents. The last collection/delivery was simple and successful...and the buckets were well-received by residents.
- Nursing Home Communion Each month, FUMC offers the Sacrament of Holy Communion at our local nursing home. Contact Brother Truman if you are interested in getting involved: staggfmly04@aol.com.
- Angel Tree Project In December, members are encouraged to give generously to the Angel Tree project. This ministry provides Christmas gifts to children living in the United Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, LA. We lift our prayers and send our presents to these children who need the love and compassion of Church Family.
- Caroling Hayride Each December, FUMC sponsors a Christmas caroling hayride. The group meets at church at 5pm, then rides on a hay-filled trailer to local nursing homes, then makes stops at homes of shut-in members of the congregation. The event is as much a blessing for the carolers as it is for those who are serenaded. Watch calendar for dates!
